‘I Am Sorry’, England’s Lauren James Apologises To Alozie After Stamping On Her In Round Of 16 Game

England forward, Lauren James on Tuesday, tendered a public apology to Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie after she stamped on her in the round of 16 match between Nigeria and England on Monday.

Alozie took to her official X handle on Tuesday and appealed to her fans, who have been angry about the incident, to forget about it and move on.

While noting that football is a game of passion, Alozie wrote, “Abeg, rest. We are playing on the world stage. This game is one of passion, insurmountable emotions, and moments. All respect for Lauren James.”

Quoting Alozie’s tweet, Lauren James said she was sorry for what happened on the pitch, adding that she will learn from her experience.

She said, “All my love and respect to you. I am sorry for what happened. Also, for our England fans and my teammates, playing with and for you is my greatest honour and I promise to learn from my experience.”

Kanyi Daily reported that the England star was shown a red card in the 87th minute following a VAR review after a stamp on Alozie.

Meanwhile, Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu has praised the Super Falcons’s effort despite their painful defeat to England.

The president said the team’s brilliant effort did not go unnoticed despite the final outcome.

According to him, the Falcons made Nigeria proud on the global stage.

Similarly, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) also hailed the Super Falcons for their effort despite the painful defeat of the team to England.
