Department of Civil Military Affairs Holds Workshop on Constitutional Responsibilities of a soldier

The Department of Civil Military Affairs today held a sensitization workshop on the constitutional responsibilities of the Nigerian Army Soldier through adherence to humanitarian and human rights laws at the HQ 2 Division Auditorium, Ibadan.

In his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Bamidele Alabi, represented by the Chief of Staff 2 Division, Brig Gen Beyidi Martins stressed the high premium the Nigerian Army places on training of its personnel to ensure troops are kept abreast and informed to discharge their duties in line with international best practices.

The COS praised the Army High Command for choosing 2 Division to conduct the one-day sensitization workshop for troops of 2 Division Nigerian Army.

The Chief of Civil Military Affairs Major General Nosakhare Ugbo who was represented by Brig Gen Bola Keji while delivering the opening remarks, stated that the workshop has become necessary bearing in mind the level of engagement of troops in the day-to-day operation in the country.

This according to him, requires a high level of discipline and professionalism from each soldier at all levels in order to ensure a successful operation. He further stated that the Nigerian Army which is an arm of the Armed Forces of Nigeria has a sacred obligation to ensure that personnel perform their duties within the ambit prescribed by law.

Two papers were presented during the lecture titled- Understanding the Applicable Rules During Military Operations and Constitutional Responsibilities of the Nigerian Army Soldier through adherence to the Humanitarian and Human Rights Laws.

In attendance were troops drawn from formations and units in and around HQ 2 Division Ibadan.

In other news, The Federal Government of Nigeria in support of the operationalization of Nigerian Army Aviation has approved the acquisition of the initial 12 MD 530F Cayuse Attack Helicopters that will actualize the operationalization of the Nigerian Army (NA) Aviation to effectively tackle security challenges bedeviling the country.
