INEC Promotes 5,196 Staff Nationwide

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promoted 5,196 of its staff members nationwide.

This information was revealed in the commission’s daily bulletin by Mrs. Adenike Tadese, the Director of Publicity and Voter Education, on a Thursday in Abuja.

Tadese emphasized that the promotion came after the commission conducted its 2023 promotion examination and evaluation, illustrating its commitment to staff welfare and development

Breaking down the numbers, Tadese explained that 55 deputy directors on Grade Level 16 were promoted to the Director position in Grade Level 17. Moreover, 54 assistant directors on GL 15 ascended to the deputy director cadre on GL 16.

She added that 338 officers on GL 14 were promoted to Assistant directors on GL 15, while the majority of the promotions—4,749 officers—were distributed among GL 7 to 13.

In another development, the commission instructed four of its directors to go on terminal leave

According to a statement by Sam Olumekun, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), the decision came in response to a directive from the Federal Government through a circular issued on July 27, 2023.

Olumekun emphasized that two of the directors set for terminal leave had held positions as heads of departments at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja, while the remaining two had been deployed as Administrative Secretaries in state offices.

He further explained that Clinical Officers in the medical cadre were exempt from the Federal Government Retirement Policy, referencing Circular MH 7205/T31 dated Sept. 7. (NAN)

Kanyi Daily recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated its intention to conduct re-runs and by-elections simultaneously in nine states of the federation on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
