Lagos Area Boys Extorted Money From Us, Almost Stabbed My Crew Member – Biodun Stephen [Video]

Nollywood actress, Biodun Stephen has shared her experience with thugs and area boys who extorted her film production crew in Lagos.

In a video shared on Instagram page, Biodun Stephen revealed that one of her crew members narrowly avoided being stabbed by these “area boys.”

The filmmaker detailed how they were accosted and coerced into paying exorbitant amounts after their vehicle broke down on the road.

She called upon Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the chairman of the Lagos State branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, MC Oluomo, to intervene and address the persistent menace of intimidation.

“I want to speak to our governor. I don’t know if it is something that is within his jurisdiction. I want to appeal to Honorable Musilu MC Oluomo,” she wrote.

These area boys are becoming a problem. Today we went to shoot, and the bus broke down. The moment the bus broke down, area boys from different places emerged. We paid the first five thousand just for being in their area.

“We pushed the vehicle to a filling station, and the manager collected three thousand naira. They said we could no longer park the vehicle there. He just took us to where we can park and find a mechanic.

“The mechanic couldn’t fix the vehicle, so we were forced to push it out. Some boys claimed they gave money to Fadeyi boys, they were Shmolou boys, and they almost stabbed one of my crew members.”

Sharing the video, Biodun Stephen urged the government to urgently address the situation, emphasizing the need for intervention to curb the persistent harassment.

She wrote: “As of now, we have parted with 22k to area boys just because our bus broke down. If we stand by watching, na we all go suffer am. I’m calling on the government to please deliver us from Area Boys!!!!! I am begging.”
