Ondo Socialite, Adelabu Emirate Kills Wife And Commits Suicide

A well-known oil and gas merchant and socialite, Sesan Adelabu, brutally killed his wife, Bolu, before taking his own life on Friday night in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.

The shocking incident occurred at their residence in the upscale Alagbaka area, leaving the community in disbelief and prompting questions about the circumstances leading to the gruesome act.

Sources said that Adelabu, popularly known as “Shessy Emirate”, allegedly discovered his wife’s extramarital affair, which triggered a violent response.

The Ondo socialite was said to have inflicted multiple machete cuts on his wife, resulting in her tragic demise.

Following the gruesome act, Emirate, who owned several gas and filling stations, reportedly left his residence to purchase a deadly insecticide known as Sniper.

Upon returning home, the businessman consumed the substance, leading to his own demise.

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Abayomi Oladipo, has promptly ordered an immediate investigation into the incident.

Police Public Relations Officer Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya confirmed the development, stating that the State Criminal Investigation Department’s homicide section would handle the case.

On the 9th of February, 2024, a distress call was received by the police of A’ Division Akure by men of the Special Protection Unit.

“The officer attached to the deceased in his house in the Alagbaka area of Akure received a call from the deceased child around 6 p.m. asking after his father.

“When he was not picking up his calls, the policeman, while trying to inform his principal, discovered him face down and lifeless in the toilet, while his wife’s body was found on the bed with multiple cuts suspected to be machete cuts on her head and face.

“An empty container of snipers was also found at the scene,” she said.

The bodies of the deceased couple have been deposited at the mortuary as investigations into this tragic incident continue.
