Meek Mill Says He Wants Ghanaian Citizenship Because America Is Tearing Black Men Down
US rapper, Meek Mill has announced his desire to obtain Ghanaian citizenship, citing the oppression of black men in America as his primary motivation.
The Philadelphia-born artist, who recently faced allegations involving his sexuality and a supposed relationship with Diddy, took to Twitter on March 5, 2024, to make the declaration.
He expressed his intention to pursue dual citizenship in Ghana, highlighting his belief that Africa does not have the same challenges faced by black men in America
Expressing his sentiments, he wrote, “I wanna get citizenship in Ghana!!! America made to tear black men down if you don’t follow orders!”
“Africa don’t got this shit I’m getting dual citizenship if they let me!,” Meek wrote in another tweet.

Meek Mill’s decision to get Ghanaian citizenship follows recent controversies, including being forced to deny allegations regarding his sexuality after being implicated in a lawsuit against music executive Diddy.
The lawsuit, filed by former producer Rodney Jones, raised claims of sexual assault against Diddy, with Meek Mill indirectly referenced in the document.
The rapper’s pursuit of Ghanaian citizenship reflects a broader trend of prominent figures looking beyond their home countries for various reasons.
