An explosion caused by a planted Improvised Explosive Device, went off at the popular Buni Yadi market in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
A local resident, Ali Hassan, told Channels Television over the phone that the explosion occurred around 12:30 pm on Friday and injured a girl.
Captain Muhammad Shehu, the spokesman for the Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, confirmed the explosion at Buni Yadi market.
He said another IED was found and safely detonated by the Army, noting that the only victim of the explosion is currently receiving treatment at a local health facility.
Captain Shehu emphasized that the incident involved a planted IED, not a suicide bombing.
Buni Yadi, located 54 kilometers from Damaturu, the state capital, was heavily affected by Boko Haram insurgents for two years.
