After releasing his third studio album “Lungu Boy,” which is currently topping charts, Asake has faced backlash for using more Yoruba than English in his songs.

During an Instagram live session, Asake responded to his critics by saying he feels more comfortable singing in Yoruba because that is his origin.

He explained that he cannot change who he is and urged those who appreciate his use of Yoruba to continue enjoying his music, while others are free to choose otherwise.

The musician also expressed his pride in being a Yoruba man.
