FG Declares Tuesday, October 1st Public Holiday For Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day

The Federal Government has announced that Tuesday, October 1st will be a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.

In a statement released on Saturday, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, said the declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.

The minister extended his congratulations to Nigerians both at home and abroad in celebration of the occasion.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also commended the resilience and hard work of Nigerians, assuring them that their efforts are not in vain.

Referencing the theme of the anniversary, he emphasized the importance of reflecting on the sacrifices made by past heroes and being motivated for the challenges ahead, stressing that the dream of a better Nigeria can only be achieved through unity.

As he wished everyone a Happy Independence Day, Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to remain committed to the task of nation-building.

KanyiDaily recalls that First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu recently introduced the OneNigeria/Unity Fabric, which would be worn nationwide to mark Nigeria’s Independence Day on October 1, 2024.
