CAF Delists Nigeria, Libya AFCON Qualifier Over Ill-Treatment Dispute

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has delisted the second-leg match between Nigeria and Libya from the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

CAF shared an updated match schedule on its X account on Tuesday, and the Libya vs Nigeria game was notably absent.

The match was originally set for Tuesday night in Libya, following the first leg, which took place on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, where the Super Eagles secured a last-minute 1-0 victory.

However, controversy erupted around the return leg after Super Eagles players and officials reported being stranded at a Libyan airport for more than 14 hours, which led them to return to Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has threatened to take legal action over Nigeria’s decision to pull out of the 2025 AFCON qualifier against its national team.
