PHOTOS: Governor Sim Fubara, Alex Otti, other dignitaries attend burial of Senator Lee Maeba’s mother

Dignitaries from various walks of life gathered in Luuwa Community, Nyo-Khana District of Khana Local Government Area, Rivers State, to pay their last respects to the late Mrs. Erefori Nawa Maeba, beloved mother of Senator Lee Ledogo Maeba, a former representative of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

The solemn event was attended by many prominent individuals, including Rivers State Governor, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, who led a delegation of top government officials to the ceremony. Among the dignitaries were Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, former senator Dino Melaye, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo, former Governors of Rivers State: Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and Sir Celestine Omehia, and former Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru.

Also in attendance were the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the former National Chairman of the PDPPrince Uche Secondus, the former Transport Minister, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, some former and serving National Assembly members, the Rivers State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Emeka Bekee, and Chief Hon. Amb Marvin Yobana, the respected leader of the Simplified Movement of Khana Local Government Area.

In his speech, Governor Fubara emphasized that nothing surpasses the eternal gains of living a life of quality and exemplary conduct. According to him, a life well-lived leaves enduring and positive impacts on society, and it is such a legacy that the late Mrs. Maeba will forever be remembered for.

The Governor further called on citizens to spend more time engaging in activities that promote societal advancement, foster peace, and uplift individuals. His message resonated deeply with those in attendance, as he urged everyone to follow in the footsteps of the late Mrs. Erefori Nawa Maeba and contribute meaningfully to society.

The event was emotional yet celebratory, as family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to mourn the loss of a matriarch revered for her wisdom, kindness, and selflessness. Her son, Senator Lee Maeba, a towering figure in Nigerian politics, was visibly moved by the outpouring of support from across the region.

During his speech, Senator Lee Maeba expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his unwavering support. He also thanked friends, family, and well-wishers for their prayers and solidarity throughout this trying period. Senator Maeba further acknowledged God’s grace in keeping the family strong and united in the face of their loss.

The funeral service was marked by heartfelt tributes, prayers, and songs in honor of the late Mrs. Maeba, whose legacy as a loving mother and pillar of strength in her community will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
