A Federal High Court in Lagos has issued a warrant for the arrest of Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, the manager of gospel artist Mercy Chinwo.
Justice Alexander Owoeye granted the warrant on Thursday after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed an ex parte motion requesting Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu’s arrest.
The motion was presented by EFCC counsel Bilikisu Buhari, who cited legal provisions under the 1999 Constitution and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
Ms. Buhari explained that the arrest warrant was necessary to compel the manager to appear in court and address the criminal allegations against him.
She added that if the EFCC could not locate the manager, they would issue a public notice declaring him wanted.
The court approved the request and scheduled the manager’s arraignment for January 24.
In an affidavit supporting the application, EFCC investigator Michael Idoko revealed that the commission received a petition from Mercy Chinwo accusing her manager of financial misconduct.
According to the affidavit, Chinwo alleged that Onyedikachukwu collected royalties from her digital platforms and event earnings without proper disclosure.
The gospel singer further claimed that he misappropriated $345,000 without transferring her rightful share.
Efforts by the EFCC to apprehend the manager were unsuccessful, leading to the request for a warrant of arrest.
The case has been adjourned to January 24 for further proceedings.
KanyiDaily recalls that a music producer, Dr Roy also demanded royalties while recounting his experiences working with Mercy Chinwo and the record label, EeZee Concepts.
