God Is Good Mobility (GIGM), formerly God Is Good Motors, says it is looking forward to the Federal Government reintroducing a 50% reduction in interstate transport fares ahead of the festive season and the January 2027 general election.
Dr Enahoro Okhae, Chief Executive Officer of the company, made the remarks on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at the launch of its new products, HireX and PASS, in Abuja. He said the company was already in discussions with officials of the Ministry of Transportation about bringing the scheme back.
The scheme was previously implemented between December 2023 and January 4, 2024. President Bola Tinubu announced the discount and free commuter rides on all rail lines for that period, which the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, relayed to State House correspondents after a meeting with the President. The Federal Government listed five transport companies to implement the fare reduction, including God Is Good Motors. Okhae said the scheme ran in 2023 and 2024 but was not repeated in 2025.
Okhae described the scheme as a very important initiative that made more people travel and gave customers a 50% discount. He said demand for travel rises sharply during the festive period, making fare increases almost unavoidable. He used an example in which a passenger who would ordinarily pay ₦60,000 for a journey might pay ₦30,000 under a 50% reduction.
He said he hopes the scheme returns this year because travel is likely to increase in December ahead of the election.
Joseph Osanipin, Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, spoke at the same launch. He commended platforms that bring transport and related travel services together, but said trust, reliability and efficient service delivery are essential for digital mobility platforms to succeed. He said customers need confidence that their personal information and transactions are secure and that services promised online will be delivered.
The Federal Government has not announced any plan to reintroduce the fare reduction for this festive season.
