Natasha Akpoti, representing Kogi Central under the PDP, refused to sit in her assigned seat on Thursday, citing Order 10 of the Senate Standing Rules, which protects members’ privileges.
The situation escalated when Senate President Godswill Akpabio called for security to remove her, but fellow senators intervened to prevent further disruption.
Speaking on Friday on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Adaramodu dismissed the incident, stating that the National Assembly is meant for serious legislative work, not content creation.
“What we are saying is that the National Assembly is not for content creation in entertainment. National Assembly is for serious business,” he said.
He also addressed Natasha’s claims of being sidelined, noting that, despite being a first-time senator, she chairs three committees, including Foreign Affairs and NGOs.
“If she is talking like that being bullied or sidelined, as a first-timer, she even had three committees that she was appointed as chairman.
“You are entitled to only committee to be the chairman and she is in charge of Foreign Affairs, NGOs now,” the Senate spokesman said.
Regarding possible disciplinary action, Adaramodu revealed that Natasha’s Kogi colleague, Senator Isah Jubril, had already apologized on her behalf, and the Senate had accepted it, ruling out any further action on the matter.
“The Senate as a whole has already accepted that tendered apology, so we are not going to revisit that,” Adaramodu stated.
KanyiDaily recalls that Godswill Akpabio previously apologized to Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for saying she was speaking like she was in a “night club”.
