Valentine Ozigbo made the switch on Thursday, February 29, at his ward in Amesi, just a day after resigning from the LP.
His move comes as he prepares to contest the upcoming Anambra governorship election in November.
In a statement he personally signed, Ozigbo explained that his decision to leave the LP aligns with his broader vision for the state.
He emphasized that he informed Peter Obi, the LP’s 2023 presidential candidate, out of respect for their shared values and Obi’s leadership.
Ozigbo reiterated that his political journey is not driven by personal ambition but by a deep belief in the potential of the people.
Valentine Ozigbo, a close associate of Peter Obi, previously ran for governor in 2021 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but was defeated by Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the Anambra governorship election for November.
KanyiDaily recalls that in 2022, Valentine Ozigbo resigned from the PDP and threw his weight behind Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
