Dr. Doyin Okupe, a former presidential spokesperson, has died at the age of 71.
According to reports, family sources confirmed that he died on Friday after battling a long-term illness, believed to be cancer.
In the weeks leading up to his death, those close to him revealed that his health had deteriorated significantly.
Dotun Okupe held key political positions, serving as a senior adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
He later became the Director-General of Peter Obi’s 2023 Presidential Campaign. However, he was forced to step down from the role after being convicted in court on charges related to money laundering.
Following the 2023 general elections, Okupe also resigned from the Labour Party.
