Teyana Taylor Files Petition Against Ex-Husband Iman Shumpert, Ask Judge To Lock Him Up

American singer and actress Teyana Taylor has taken legal action against her ex-husband, Iman Shumpert, accusing him of leaking confidential divorce documents to the media.

KanyiDaily recalls that Teyana Taylor recently finalized her divorce with Iman Shumpert, and the details of their settlement made headlines due to the high-value assets involved.

In response, Taylor filed a petition for contempt, claiming that Shumpert intentionally shared sealed court records, leading to misleading reports about their divorce settlement.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Taylor has faced online backlash over false claims regarding their divorce proceedings.

She insists there was no financial “settlement” beyond what the court awarded, including assets such as vehicles and a tour bus—which she says she paid for herself.

She also clarified reports about a luxury car, explaining that she bought a Maybach only after Shumpert wrecked her Rolls-Royce and never replaced it.

The actress stated that she received four properties in the divorce, while Shumpert was awarded three, including a Miami condo that he had originally gifted to her.

The controversy intensified after Teyana Taylor’s Oscar night post in 2025, where she was seen with actor Aaron Pierre.

The photo quickly went viral, racking up 1.4 million views and over 40,000 comments. However, just days later, reports of what she calls a “false divorce settlement” surfaced in the media.

Taylor believes the timing was suspicious, as she had recently been enjoying a series of professional successes—including a second Air Jordan collaboration with Nike, performances, modeling gigs in Paris, and multiple film and TV projects.

She also suggests that Shumpert may have leaked the information to generate publicity for his newly released rap song.

As a result of the media storm, Taylor says she endured online harassment while Shumpert benefited from the increased attention.

Now, she is asking the judge to hold him in contempt, demanding a 20-day jail sentence and the highest possible fines as punishment for violating the court’s confidentiality order.
