Air Peace Suspends Flight Operations Across Nigeria Due To NiMet Strike

Air Peace has temporarily suspended all its flights across Nigeria following a strike by staff of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

The airline explained on Wednesday that it had no choice but to halt operations because essential weather reports—especially QNH data, which are crucial for safe aircraft landings—are currently unavailable.

Air Peace reassured passengers that safety remains their top concern and promised to provide updates as the situation develops.

Due to the ongoing NiMet strike and the unavailability of QNH (hazardous weather) reports required for safe landings, Air Peace has suspended all flight operations nationwide until the strike is over.

“Your safety is our top priority. We appreciate your understanding and will share updates as the situation unfolds,” the airline said.

Before this, Air Peace had already warned that the NiMet strike might cause disruptions, including delays and cancellations, across its flight schedule.

The airline added that it is closely watching the situation and working with stakeholders to reduce the impact on passengers’ travel plans.

KanyiDaily had reported that NiMet strike began on Monday, with employees embarking on an indefinite nationwide industrial action over unresolved welfare issues.

Striking workers accuse the agency’s management of failing to honor agreements involving financial benefits, such as wage awards, special allowances, and back pay tied to the 2019 minimum wage.

They also allege that management has withheld key documents, excluded certain employees from past payments, and prioritized executive retreats over vital training programs.
