The Ondo State Amotekun Corps has launched an investigation into claims that a pastor impregnated a 13-year-old disabled chorister in Odigbo Local Government Area.
The accused, identified as Pastor Peter James, was in charge of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Modebiayo, Oke-Gburowo, before the incident came to light.
He was reportedly arrested and questioned by Amotekun officers, then taken before the town’s traditional ruler, Oloja Moses Ogunmoyewa.
A source close to the victim’s family said this wasn’t the first time the pastor had impregnated the girl.
According to them, he had previously arranged for an abortion without the family’s consent.
During questioning at the monarch’s palace, the pastor allegedly admitted to being responsible for the latest pregnancy, and the confession was documented by the king and community members.
However, he later retracted his confession and denied the pregnancy was his.
Efforts by the church’s zonal leadership to get the pastor to accept responsibility reportedly failed.
The girl’s mother, Mrs. Victoria Bernard, said the pastor denied involvement because of her daughter’s disability.
She has appealed to the government and kind-hearted individuals to step in and support the family.
When contacted, the zonal church office in Igburowo declined to speak on the issue, but a pastor from the church—who asked to remain anonymous—confirmed that the case is now being handled by the church headquarters in Odigbo.
KanyiDaily recalls that a 30-year-old man, Dada Isiaka was recently arrested by Osun State Amotekun operatives for the alleged defilement of a 9-year-old girl.
