Peter Obi Speaks On His Alleged Plans To Leave Labour Party

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has denied rumours that he plans to leave the party.

Speaking during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting currently taking place in Abuja, Peter Obi made it clear that he’s not going anywhere.

The former Anambra governor also stressed that he hasn’t had any conversations with anyone—either individuals or groups—about quitting the party.

According to him, any major decisions about the future of the party would be made together with key members and stakeholders.

“I’ve not told anybody that I’m leaving the Labour Party,” he said.

This comes after reports surfaced recently, including a claim by Adewole Adebayo, the SDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, who said that several well-known politicians—including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi—were in talks to join the SDP ahead of the 2027 elections.

KanyiDaily recalls that Peter Obi’s ally, Valentine Ozigbo, a governorship aspirant in Anambra State, recently dumped the Labour Party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
