The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas attended the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja for the first time.
Ibas’ presence at the meeting comes after he was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in March 2025, following the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The meeting was led by Vice President Kashim Shettima and had several governors and deputy governors from across Nigeria in attendance.
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who just joined the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday, was asked by the Vice President to lead the opening prayers.
Other governors at the meeting included Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak of Kwara, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, and Bassey Otu of Cross River, among others.
A number of deputy governors were also present.
KanyiDaily recalls that the House of Representatives recently issued a reminder to Rivers Sole Administrator, Ibok Ete Ibas, that he does not have the legal power to make laws or pass a state budget.
