Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) has broken its silence on the controversy surrounding the arrest of popular social media critic, Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan.
VeryDarkMan’s arrest on Friday, May 1, stirred reactions online after he posted a video showing himself and his mother at a GTBank branch.
He claimed they were there to challenge strange deductions from her salary account tied to a loan she never took.
As the incident gained attention, GTBank released CCTV footage showing what happened during and after his visit to the bank.
In the video, VeryDarkMan is seen calmly finishing his business inside the banking hall and walking out to the car park—contradicting claims that he was arrested inside the building.
Another clip from an outdoor camera shows a group of unidentified men—believed to be security agents—approaching him in the parking lot. They weren’t wearing uniforms, so their exact identities remain unknown.
However, the exact moment of his arrest wasn’t captured, likely because the security cameras didn’t cover that part of the parking lot.
