For the third time in just one week, gunmen have attacked Okoloke, a farming village in Kogi State’s Yagba West Local Government Area, kidnapping four people on Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses said the armed men stormed the village and broke into the home of Ezekiel Durojaiye, a retired community leader from nearby Okunran village.
He was taken along with three others, and all four were led away into the forest at gunpoint.
The incident has left the local population on edge, with fear and anxiety growing by the day.
Yagba West has seen a disturbing rise in abductions recently.
Just last Thursday, the traditional ruler of the area, Oba James Dada Ogunyamda, was kidnapped.
Three days later, two members of the local vigilante group and another people were also abducted.
In total, eight people have been kidnapped from the area within a week.
The family of the 90-year-old monarch revealed that his abductors initially demanded N100 million in ransom but later reduced the amount to N50 million.
They’ve since called on the government, non-profits, and the general public to help raise the money.
Although local authorities and the Kogi State Police have promised to step up rescue efforts, there hasn’t been any concrete progress in freeing the recent victims.
KanyiDaily recalls that gunmen also killed a lawyer and his client in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
