Nollywood Stars And Peter Obi Attends Nkechi Nweje’s Burial In Anambra [Photos/Video]

Veteran Nollywood actress Nkechi Nweje was laid to rest today in her hometown in Anambra State, as her loved ones and colleagues came together to say their final goodbyes.

Nkechi Nweje, who died on March 21, 2025, was celebrated for her long-standing contributions to the Nigerian film industry.

Although the cause of her death hasn’t been made public, her passing came as a shock to many and left a wave of grief across Nollywood.

Her funeral drew a large number of Nollywood veterans and filmmakers, all there to honor her memory.

Among the attendees was former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, highlighting the influence she had both in her community and within the industry.

Known for her powerful performances, Nkechi Nweje often played motherly or strong authority figures in both traditional and modern films. Her dedication to her craft, combined with her humility, earned her admiration from colleagues and fans alike.
