Police Arrest 21-Year-Old Female Arms Runner With 481 Rounds of Ammunition In Nasarawa

Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old female arms runner suspected of transporting ammunition to terrorists operating in parts of the state.

The suspect, identified as Fatima Salisu from Funtua in Katsina State, was caught in the Azuba area of Lafia while reportedly heading to deliver the ammunition through Keana and Doma local government areas.

Police spokesperson SP Ramhan Nansel shared the update with reporters on Thursday in Lafia, saying the arrest was made after the police received credible intelligence about the suspect’s movements.

Acting on the tip, the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima J. Mohammed, directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to take immediate action.

The operation led to Fatima’s arrest and the seizure of 481 rounds of live ammunition, including 400 rounds of 7.62x39mm and 81 rounds of 7.62mm NATO bullets.

Police believe the ammunition was meant for criminals in Katsina and are now questioning the suspect to uncover more details about the network behind the weapons supply.

Authorities described the arrest as a major breakthrough in their efforts to stop the spread of illegal weapons and combat terrorism in the region.

The police also urged residents to keep supporting their efforts by sharing useful and timely information that can help prevent crime.

KanyiDaily recalls that the British High Commission recently denied reports that a man arrested in Delta State over illegal arms dealings is a member of the UK military.
