In a deeply unsettling development, Jane Edidiong Ufot, daughter of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has publicly accused her father of using her late mother, Patience Oluwakemi Umo Eno, for ritual purposes.

The allegation was made in a viral video that surfaced online, sparking outrage and disbelief across social media platforms and within the political landscape of Akwa Ibom State.
Mrs. Ufot, who is married and serves as a Senior Special Adviser to the governor on Health, Safety, and Environment, made the claims in an emotionally charged video recorded from an undisclosed location. Visibly distressed, she directly accused Governor Umo Eno of being responsible for her mother’s death.
“My father killed my mother for ritual purpose,” she said tearfully in the video. “I’m not a sacrifice. Mummy was, but I’m not.”
The late Mrs. Patience Oluwakemi Umo Eno passed away in September 2024 after what the state government described as a “brief illness,” but no official details regarding the cause of death were released at the time.
In the video, Mrs. Ufot went further to involve her young daughter, prompting her to ask the governor directly during what appeared to be a live video call:
“Grandpa, do you want them to kill us?”
“Do you want them to die like my baby brother died?”
The identity of the individuals referenced by the child remains unclear. No response from the governor was audible in the footage, and the mention of a “baby brother” has raised additional questions about potential family tragedies that had previously gone unreported.
Mrs. Ufot also claimed that both she and her daughter were in imminent danger.
“If I die today or my daughter dies… if we die because God is exposing the truth, so be it. But my blood will not go scot-free,” she declared.

As the video continues to circulate, the state government has remained silent. Multiple attempts to contact the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ekerete Udoh, were unsuccessful. His phone line was reportedly switched off at the time of filing this report, and no official statement has been issued by the governor’s office.
The allegations have sent shockwaves across Akwa Ibom State and beyond, with many Nigerians demanding an investigation and official clarification. However, the authenticity of the claims has yet to be independently verified.
Observers and human rights advocates are urging caution and calling for a thorough and impartial inquiry into the matter, noting the potential legal, political, and familial ramifications of such serious accusations.
