Ibas was joined by members of the state’s economic team as they faced the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee set up to oversee matters related to the emergency rule recently declared in the state.
This session follows President Bola Tinubu’s March 18, 2025 declaration of emergency rule in Rivers, a move that placed the state under temporary federal control.
In response, the Senate had pledged to closely monitor the situation to ensure the interests of Rivers residents are protected and that no part of the state’s resources is mismanaged or diverted under the emergency arrangement.
KanyiDaily recalls that in May, President Bola Tinubu submitted a request to the National Assembly, asking for approval of a N1.481 trillion budget for Rivers State for the year 2025.
