Actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner Drowns During Family Trip In Costa Rica
Hollywood actor, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known for playing Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, has died at the age of 54.

According to Costa Rican authorities, Malcolm-Jamal Warner drowned over the weekend while vacationing with his family.
The incident happened on Sunday afternoon as he was swimming at Playa Grande in the town of Cocles, Limón province.
Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Agency said the actor was caught in a strong ocean current and pulled out to sea.
Witnesses managed to pull him from the water, and emergency responders from the Costa Rican Red Cross attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

He first rose to fame in the 1980s as the son of Bill Cosby’s character on The Cosby Show, which aired from 1984 to 1992 and was a groundbreaking portrayal of a successful Black American family.
Warner’s performance earned him an Emmy nomination in 1986. He once recalled being the last actor seen at auditions before landing the role, handpicked by Cosby himself.
After The Cosby Show, Warner took on various roles in television, including Malcolm & Eddie with comedian Eddie Griffin, who paid tribute online calling him “my big little brother.”
Warner also made guest appearances on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Sesame Street, and more recently starred in The Resident as heart surgeon AJ Austin.
Beyond acting, Malcolm-Jamal Warner was a talented musician and spoken word artist.
In 2015, he won a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance with Robert Glasper and Lalah Hathaway. His spoken word album Hiding In Plain View earned another Grammy nomination in 2023.
In 2023, Warner launched the podcast Not All Hood, where he opened up conversations around mental health in the Black community.
Following the news of his death, tributes have poured in from celebrities and fans alike, all honoring his legacy and impact on American television and culture.
