President Tinubu Extends Tenure Of Nigerian Customs CG, Bashir Adeniyi
President Bola Tinubu has approved a one-year extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.

A statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Bashir Adeniyi will now remain in office until August 2026 instead of his original end date, August 31, 2025.
According to the statement, the extension is to give Adeniyi enough time to continue with major reforms already in progress.
These include overhauling Customs operations, rolling out the National Single Window Project, and ensuring Nigeria meets its commitments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.
The statement added, “President Tinubu recognises Mr. Adeniyi’s steadfast leadership and commitment to service.
“The President is confident that this extension will further strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service in achieving its strategic mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.”
Bashir Adeniyi was appointed as acting Comptroller-General in June 2023, after taking over from Hameed Ali. He was officially confirmed as CG in October 2023.
KanyiDaily recalls that President Bola Tinubu recently approved the immediate employment of 200 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members into the federal civil service.
