Niger Delta Youths Protest At NNPCL Towers In Abuja

Niger Delta youth leaders staged a protest on Wednesday at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Towers in Abuja.

It was gathered that the protesters arrived at the NNPCL Towers as early as 6 a.m., blocking both the entrance and exit gates of the building.

Their action disrupted traffic flow on Herbert Macaulay Way in the Central Business District as they marched with banners and chanted their demands.

One of the banners called for the resignation of NNPCL’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bashir Ojulari, accusing him of corruption and poor management.

The protesters also demanded that the leadership of the company be handed to an indigene of the Niger Delta region.

Security operatives, including police officers, were deployed to the area and redirected traffic into a single lane near the towers to control the situation.

Due to the barricade, staff of the company were unable to drive into the premises and had to park their vehicles some distance away from the building.

This comes a few hours after ASUU members took to the streets on Tuesday to protest the Federal Government’s continued neglect of their demands.
