In a social media post, Sowore said the incident occurred around 6:00 AM when a team from the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit, led by a Chief Superintendent of Police, forcibly entered his holding cell
According to him, the officers claimed they were taking him to court, but reportedly refused to present formal charges or allow him to contact his lawyers.
The activist said the team, made up of nine heavily armed officers manhandled him and broke his arm when he demanded to know why he was being moved without legal notification.
Following the altercation, Sowore was taken to another undisclosed police facility, raising fresh concerns about his detention.
