The attackers stormed a mosque during prayers, shooting into the congregation and leaving five people dead instantly, according to counter-insurgency platform Zagazola Makama.
The bandits then seized an unknown number of worshippers and fled with them into the nearby forest.
The killings threw the community into mourning, with residents gathering later in the day to hold funeral prayers for the victims.
“We pray Allah to forgive their shortcomings, accept them as martyrs, and bring an end to this bloodshed in our land,” a community elder was quoted as saying.
This latest tragedy comes just days after another attack in Tsafe LGA, where gunmen abducted 40 people during early morning prayers at a mosque in Gidan Turbe village.
KanyiDaily also reported how bandits kidnapped a traditional ruler of Yankuzo, Alhaji Babangida Kogo, in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
