One Dead, Seven Injured In Jigawa Building Collapse

The Kirikasamma Local Government Council in Jigawa has confirmed that one person lost their life and seven others were injured after a building collapsed in the area.

The council’s Information Officer, Musa Muhammad, said in a statement on Sunday that the incident was triggered by heavy rainfall that pounded Kirikasamma and surrounding communities.

According to him, the collapse happened around midnight on Friday at Kabak village.

“I gathered that seven persons got serious injuries while one person died at Kabak village in Kirikasamma Local Government Area.

“The incident happened at midnight, Friday, after which five of the victims were hospitalised while the remaining two were treated and discharged,” Muhammad said.

The Council Chairman, Muhammad Maji, visited the site of the tragedy to commiserate with the victims and their families.

He announced immediate financial support, including N500,000 to assist with hospital bills and N100,000 in relief funds for the bereaved family.

KanyiDaily also reported how a three-storey building under construction collapsed on Saturday morning in Abia State, leaving seven people injured.
