It was gathered that the police officer was kidnapped in the early hours of Thursday while returning from an assignment at Patigi General Hospital to his base in Lade.
The Patigi-Lade road, where the incident occurred, has in recent months become notorious for criminal activities, raising fresh concerns about insecurity in the area.
Confirming the incident, the state police spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, told DAILY POST in Ilorin that the officer’s motorcycle was discovered abandoned along the road.
Ejire-Adeyemi explained that the bandits took away the officer on his way home after duty.
She added that security operatives have launched a search to rescue the officer and bring those responsible to justice.
