Governor Abiodun made the announcement on Monday at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where he hosted the team before their return-leg match scheduled for Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.
The governor said the team’s return to the stadium was proof that Ogun State was making positive strides in sports development.
He revealed that the state government plans to further transform the sports complex by adding a four- or five-star hotel, a cinema, and a shopping mall to boost its appeal and functionality.
While congratulating the Super Falcons for winning their 10th WAFCON title, Abiodun praised their historic success in Morocco, noting that their continued dominance represents the strength and excellence of Nigerian women’s football.
He added that the Super Falcons embody more than just athletic skill, describing the team as a model of leadership, teamwork, and discipline.
Head Coach Justin Madugu, in his remarks, thanked the governor for his consistent support and hospitality, noting that playing at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena always gives the team an added advantage.
Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade also appreciated Governor Abiodun’s encouragement and the quality of the sports facility, promising that the Super Falcons would continue to make Nigerians proud with strong performances and victories.
Nigeria, who won the first leg 2–0 against Benin Republic, will play the decisive return leg in Abeokuta today, with the winner securing a place in the 2026 WAFCON tournament in Morocco.
