Former Osun State deputy governor, Iyiola Omisore, has announced plans to run for the governorship seat in the 2026 elections under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Iyiola Omisore announced the development on Saturday through his X handle, noting that a formal declaration will be made on October 7, 2025, at the APC state secretariat in Osogbo.
The event will be held with the theme: “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams.”
The former senator, who represented Osun East between 2003 and 2011, explained that his decision is centered on rebuilding the state and giving citizens renewed hope.
In a statement personally signed by him on Saturday, October 4, 2025, Omisore said, “After deep reflection and wide consultations, I have decided to formally declare my intention to contest for the Governor of Osun State in 2026 under our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
Omisore expressed confidence in the collective capacity of Osun people to rebuild the state, saying, “I believe strongly that together, we can restore hope, strengthen governance, and deliver a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun.
“This is not just my mission, it is a collective one. I believe strongly that together, we can restore hope, strengthen governance, and deliver a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun,” he wrote.
Iyiola Omisore also urged APC members and residents of Osun to join him in what he described as a shared vision for renewal.
“I humbly invite you to join me as we take this bold step towards the Osun Rescue Mission 2026,” he added.
KanyiDaily recalls that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar recently dismissed claims that he plans to step aside for a younger politician in the 2027 presidential election.
