KanyiDaily recalls that Herbert Wigwe, his wife, and their eldest son lost their lives in a tragic plane crash in the United States in February 2024.
Following their deaths, rumors began circulating that a family feud had erupted over control of Herbert’s wealth, with reports alleging that his 90-year-old father was clashing with his grandchildren.
But in an interview with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Shyngle Wigwe dismissed the speculation, saying he has no interest in his son’s assets.
‘’How can I want to claim Herbert’s properties? Who is the best person to defend Herbert’s properties? The father or a friend? The Father at 90 years? My grandchildren are there! Haba! I beg your pardon! How many more days have I got to live? So what will I do with Herbert’s properties?
“I trained Herbert. I brought him up, not a single penny from anybody went in to bringing Herbert up? The mother is here. What will I do with Herbert’s wealth? ‘’he asked
Wigwe also revealed that he suffered a stroke after learning of his son’s death.
He shared that he had a feeling something bad might happen to Herbert and admitted he was not pleased with the large mansion his son built in Ikoyi, Lagos.
‘’I got to to the new house. I was not happy. It is very ostentatious. I didn’t like it one bit. I tried to caution him but it was too late. He started building that house and I knew nothing about it,”’ he said
This comes amid reports that Shyngle Wigwe reportedly took legal action against his 26-year-old granddaughter, Otutochi Channel Wigwe, over a dispute regarding Herber Wigwe’s estate.
