Nigerian Police Clash With Content Creator Speaking With American Accent In Benin [Video]

Police in Benin City, Edo State were involved in a tense standoff with a content creator who spoke with an American accent, drawing the attention of residents and onlookers.

A video shared online shows police stopping the Tiktokers while they were recording content, which led to a tense back-and-forth.

The content creator questioned why they were stopped and revealed that, because of his U.S background, this was the third time he had experienced something similar.

The officers told the American-accented content creator to “talk well” as the argument grew more heated.

No one was arrested and the young men eventually left, but the incident, which unfolded in a busy part of the city, caused brief disruption of traffic

The incident triggered mixed reactions about the accent misunderstanding as well as frustration over frequent police checkpoints and behavior in Nigeria.
