Raheem Sterling Finally Leaves Chelsea By Mutual Agreement

Raheem Sterling has finally left Chelsea after both parties agreed to terminate his contract early.

The 31-year-old still had 18 months left on his deal, which reportedly paid him £325,000 per week.

Raheem Sterling joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2022 for £47.5 million and spent three-and-a-half seasons at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea issued a statement thanking Sterling for his contributions and wishing him well in the next chapter of his career.

We thank Raheem for the contribution he made while a Chelsea player and wish him well for the next stage in his career,” Chelsea said.

The England international made 81 appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals, but hadn’t featured in a competitive match since May 2024.

Following a summer without a transfer, Sterling had been training separately with Chelsea’s so-called “bomb squad” at the Cobham training ground.

Clubs like Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen showed interest, while a potential move to Fulham fell through.

Sterling, who began his career at Liverpool and has won 13 trophies, is reportedly interested in staying in London but remains open to opportunities both in England and abroad.

When he joined Chelsea, Sterling signed a five-year deal, moving his young family to London.

The transfer was part of a plan led by then sporting director Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, though both are no longer in charge at the club.

Sterling also experienced multiple managerial changes in his first two seasons, including Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Frank Lampard, and Mauricio Pochettino.

Despite solid individual performances, he gradually fell out of Chelsea’s first-team plans under new manager Enzo Maresca and spent the last season onan underwhelming loan at Arsenal.

KanyiDaily recalls that Chelsea recently appointed Liam Rosenior as the new head coach, replacing Enzo Maresca.
