The son of late music icon Fela Kuti made the claim during a livestream, where he reacted to a comment from a Wizkid fan who asked him to drop the nickname “Big Bird.”
Seun Kuti said he had been known by the name long before Wizkid started using it, insisting that the title originally belonged to him.
According to him, Wizkid should be encouraged to come up with something different instead of copying another artist’s identity.
“Wizkid stole my name. Tell your fave to be original. Why are you telling me to change my name? Sorry, I can’t change it. This name has been here since. I am the first to come up with it. I am not dragging it with anybody, please,” he said.
KanyiDaily recalls that Seun Kuti previously criticised Wizkid’s fans for their constant and disrespectful use of his late father’s name in music arguments.
