Wike Seeks Court Order To Jail FCTA Workers Over Continued Strike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has asked the National Industrial Court to jail workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) who are currently on strike, accusing them of ignoring a court order.

The workers continued their industrial action despite a January 27 court ruling directing them to suspend the strike until a case filed by the minister is decided.

To enforce the order, Wike obtained Form 48 through his lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Ogwu Onoja.

Form 48 is an official notice that warns of the consequences of disobeying a court order and serves as a step toward possible contempt proceedings.

The document titled “Notice of Consequence of disobedience of order of Court” was dated January 29 and signed by the court registrar, Olajide Balogun.

It reads, “Take note that unless you obey the directions contained in the order of Honourable Justice E. D Sublimi of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria delivered 27th day of January 2026, you will be guilty of contempt of court and will be liable to be committed to prison “.

KanyiDaily recalls that Justice Emmanuel Sublimi had earlier directed FCTA workers to call off their strike pending the hearing of the case brought against them by Wike.
