18-Year-Old Lady Stabs Husband During Domestic Dispute In Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has launched a manhunt for an 18-year-old woman, Khadija Jamilu, who allegedly stabbed her husband during a domestic dispute in Potiskum Local Government Area.

Police said the incident happened on Friday, when the woman allegedly used a knife to stab her 25-year-old husband in the genital area, leaving him with a severe injury.

In a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said officers from the Potiskum Divisional Headquarters responded after receiving a distress report about the attack.

‎“On February 6, 2026, at about 0100 hours, the suspect, Khadija Jamilu, an 18-year-old female of Potiskum Local Government Area, allegedly attacked her husband, aged 25 years, using a knife and inflicted a deep cut injury on his genital organ,” the statement partly read.

According to the police, the victim was first taken to the State Specialist Hospital in Potiskum for emergency treatment.

He was later transferred to the Federal Medical Centre in Azare, Bauchi State, where he is currently receiving care.

‎He added, “Efforts are in top gear to arrest the fleeing suspect, while investigation into the case is ongoing.”

Reacting to the case, the Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, stressed that marriage should be based on respect, patience, and understanding, not violence.

He said, “Marriage should be built on mutual respect, understanding, patience, and tolerance. Marriage must never be an avenue for violence, abuse, or humiliation.”

‎“Couples and intending spouses should seek proper counselling before and during marriage; embrace peaceful dialogue and anger management during conflicts; involve parents, guardians, religious leaders, or trusted mediators when misunderstandings escalate; and avoid resolving marital disputes through violence, as it often leads to irreversible consequences.”

The police also called on community leaders and families to educate young people about healthy relationships, peaceful conflict resolution, and the responsibilities that come with marriage.

KanyiDaily also reported how Taraba Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, ordered the arrest of a woman who attacked a teenage girl with a razor over an alleged affair with her husband.
