Police To Arrest TikToker Mirabel After Admitting Her Rape Allegation Was False

The Ogun State Police Command is planning to arrest and charge a woman, identified as Mirabel, after she admitted that her earlier rape claim was false.

Mirabel had previously said she was attacked and raped by an unknown person who broke into her apartment in Ogijo, Ogun State.

Her allegation, posted on TikTok, drew widespread attention and outrage, with many people demanding action against sexual violence.

The case took a turn after Nigerian activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, released a video of a phone call with Mirabel.

In the recording, the Tiktoker admitted directly that her rape allegation was not true.

“So in a nutshell, the story about the rape is not true?” he asked and she responded, “Yes sir.”

“I have been taking drugs, and I was not thinking clearly when I posted the videos,” she said.

During the conversation, Mirabel revealed she had been taking codeine mixed with Sprite and suggested that the combination could have caused hallucinations.

She acknowledged that these hallucinations may have influenced her account of events.

VeryDarkMan asked, “Do you think hallucinations caused this?” and she replied saying, “It’s true,” 

She also spoke about her mental health struggles, including panic attacks and self-harm.

Mirabel said she had suicidal thoughts and described using self-injury to cope with her distress.

“On a normal day I do cut myself but I don’t think I’ll do that kind of a thing to myself. I have panic attacks so I do self injuries so I can be fine. I’ve been suicidal, that’s why I just wanted to end it all, I’m tired,” she said during the call.

When confronted about creating a separate TikTok account to support her story, she admitted to doing so herself.

“Yes sir, please sir, help me I’m tired,” she pleaded, stressing that that she had also been in a toxic lesbian relationship.

A police source told PUNCH Metro that senior officers, including the Divisional Police Officer, were at the hospital where Mirabel was receiving treatment.

The source added the she will be taken into custody and charged once discharged to serve as a warning to others.

“The DPO and some senior police officers are currently at the hospital where she is admitted.

“Once she is discharged, she will be taken into custody, and a charge will be prepared against her for trial. The essence is to serve as a deterrent to others,” the source said.

KanyiDaily recalls that the police has warned that if Mirabel’s allegation is proven, whoever is responsible will be arrested and charged in court.
