Trump called Remi Tinubu a “very respected woman” during the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
Speaking to attendees at the annual faith-based event, which included political and civic leaders from around the world, Trump highlighted Mrs. Tinubu’s influence and contributions, earning applause from the audience.
He also mentioned her work as a pastor at one of Nigeria’s largest churches, drawing attention to her religious background.
“We are honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at the largest church in Nigeria — a very respected woman. Thank you very much, it’s a great honour, a very respected person too,” Trump said.
His remarks placed Mrs. Tinubu among other prominent faith leaders attending the event, which gathers politicians, clergy, and policymakers to reflect on leadership, governance, and shared values.
The National Prayer Breakfast is held every February and brings together members of the U.S. Congress, religious leaders, and international guests for prayers and discussions.
