Apostle Chinyere Apologises After Backlash Over Marriage Plan For Autistic Son

Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, founder of the Omega Power Ministry, has issued an apology after facing heavy criticism over a social media post about finding a wife for his adopted autistic son.

The backlash started when Apostle Chinyere shared a photo of himself and the young man, known as Aboy, on Facebook.

In the post, the cleric called for a woman willing to marry him and promised several financial benefits in return.

He explained that the boy had been abandoned at the church as a child and had since been raised under his care.

The cleric added that the woman could be older or even a single mother, but must not be autistic.

His offer included paying all marriage expenses, providing a house, monthly financial support, free medical care, and even sponsored trips abroad.

He wrote, “Marry him and get benefits. Since the unknown parents dump him at my gate, he has been growing to become a man.

“Any lady that accepts to marry him. All marrital rites would be paid. Free accommodation for life, monthly salary for live, as house shall be built for the 2 couples of them.

“Free medical for both couples for life, vacation overseas for both couples. She can be a single mother, a grand mother etc.

” But she must not be autistic and many other huge financial benefits. Any interested girl or woman, go to opm headquarters ask of head of OPM welfare.”

The post quickly drew criticism online, with many people saying the idea reduced marriage to a financial arrangement and showed a lack of sensitivity.

Some argued that the young man needed proper medical attention and support rather than being pushed into marriage.

Reacting on his Facebook page, Chinyere apologized for the post, pointing out that people with autism can get married.

The cleric said he did not expect the post to offend people and insisted his intention was not to disrespect women.

He further explained that he cares for more than 500 abandoned children and described Aboy’s condition as particularly difficult.

According to him, the young man cannot speak or fully understand changes in his body, which has raised concerns about how to manage his needs safely.

Chinyere said he considered different options but ruled out abandoning the boy or encouraging anything outside marriage due to his beliefs.

He maintained that his idea was to find a lawful and supportive arrangement, though he acknowledged the way it was presented upset many people.

Apologies to all ladies, I never knew it hurt you like this. If you google the internet you will find many autistic men marrying normal ladies, it’s not a crime. But am sorry to our beautiful feel embarrassed by my proposal.

“I accommodate more than 500 children that were dumped at my gate all because I was moved with compassion,” he said.

“So Aboy’s case was because of compassion. When I observed this uncontrollable urge for sex on him and him not understanding what is happening to his body, I wipe for him.

“If it is something he can understand when you speak to him, it would be easier. But he does not understand anything neither can he speak.

“And the strange part anytime other children are taking his bath everything will stand and refuse to go down.

“And the huge equipment he is carrying is scaring the boys bathing him, it’s too big. My fear let not use it on other children, it may kill them because of the size.

“So I have 2 options. Option 1, instruct one of my drivers to go and drop him off in any junction, but GOD may kill me if I abandon him. Option  2, get someone to help him kill the storm, but that would be fornication and it is sin.

“Option 3, make it legal by paying bride price of a grand mother or any advanced lady. That would be feeding, clothing him and taking care of his sexual needs Send them overseas for vacation. Build house on there both names for them. Place her on salary for life. But she must not kill the boy. If she kills the boy, she loses everything.”

KanyiDail also reported how Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere offered free accommodation and medical treatment to homeless Nollywood actor, Kenneth Aguba Jideofor.
