Moses, Adams Score As Nigeria’s Super Eagles Defeat Iran In Friendly Match

Goals from Moses Simon and Akor Adams won the game for Nigeria against their Middle Eastern opponents.

Nigeria started brightly at the stadium of Turkish club Antalyaspor and made an early impact.

Just six minutes into the match, Moses Simon cut in from the left and fired a shot past Iran’s goalkeeper, Alireza Beiranvand, to give the Super Eagles the lead.

Despite creating several chances afterward, Nigeria couldn’t extend their advantage in the first half.

Their persistence paid off in the 61st minute when Akor Adams doubled the lead.

The forward, who stepped in for the injured Victor Osimhen, finished calmly after receiving a well-timed pass from Ademola Lookman.

The two goals proved enough to hand Nigeria a deserved win and end their recent run without a victory.

Iran, however, pulled one back. Striker Mehdi Taremi turned in from close range after a scramble.

But they could not level things up as Nigeria held on to claim the bragging rights.

The Super Eagles will play their second game of the four-nation tournament against Jordan on Tuesday.

The matches are Nigeria’s first since winning the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Coach Chelle named a strong starting lineup for the Asian opponents, the only major change being Maduka Okoye in goal in the absence of first-choice Stanley Nwabali.
