My Mother Told Me Never To Marry A Jobless Woman – Chike [Video]

Nigerian singer Chike has shared the kind of advice his mother gave him about marriage.

During a recent chat on Ada’s Room podcast, Chike said his mother warned him not to marry someone who doesn’t positively impact his life, no matter how strong the love is.

The 33-year-old singer explained that his mother was very clear about her expectations.

According to him, she advised him to avoid marrying from a financially struggling family and to stay away from partners who are not working.

He said his mother believes that marrying into a poor background, or choosing someone whose family depends heavily on them financially, can become a serious burden over time.

“I think everybody should look for a partner that has value. Personally, my mum advised me never to settle down with a woman who doesn’t have a source of livelihood regardless of love,” he said.

The singer added, “She also told me never to marry someone with the baggage of family responsibilities, especially a firstborn that is not productive.”

Chike admitted that he now pays close attention to these factors when meeting women.

According to him, he tries to understand their background, how stable they are financially, and whether they are building something for themselves before considering a serious relationship.

He also advised men to look beyond physical attraction and think carefully about long-term compatibility before committing, especially when marriage is the goal.
