In a letter dated March 11 and addressed to the PDP ward chairman in Tambuwal/Shinfiri, Tambuwal who represents Sokoto South in the Senate, said his decision was influenced by the ongoing internal problems in the party.
The senator cited the continuous leadership disputes and conflicts that have affected the PDP in recent times.
“The leadership disagreements and divisions within the party at various levels have made it increasingly difficult for me to continue my active participation and commitment as a member,” the letter reads.
“The ongoing conflicts have, unfortunately, weakened the unity and direction that once defined the party.”
Tambuwal also revealed that he has decided to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a newly registered political party.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives thanked the PDP for giving him the opportunity to serve the country in several roles over the years.
He said his move was based on his belief that Nigeria needs a stronger political platform built on integrity, accountability, inclusiveness, and a firm commitment to national development.
The former governor also reaffirmed his dedication to serving the country and supporting the principles of democracy, justice, and national unity.
