The move is part of a wider security campaign led by Governor Charles Soludo, who has repeatedly promised to dismantle networks of native doctors accused of offering ritual support and spiritual protection to criminal groups.
It was gathered that security agents arrested the native doctor on Thursday at his office in Nnewi.
Although officials have yet to release full details of the allegations, the arrest is believed to be linked to the state government’s broader security operation targeting native doctors are allegedly preparing charms to embolden kidnappers, armed robbers, and other criminal groups.
Governor Soludo, who is a Christian, has in recent months intensified efforts to tackle crime across the state.
He has warned that anyone providing spiritual assistance for criminal activities would face the same legal consequences as those directly involved in the crimes.
The latest development comes shortly after another native doctor, Akwa Okuku Tiwaraki, was sentenced last week after reaching a plea bargain agreement with the Anambra State government.
