Obi Levi Obieze, a native doctor from Enugu known as Ezeani, who was recently arrested over allegations of kidnapping and ritual killings, has denied any wrongdoing.
Authorities discovered bodies buried in a soakaway in Obieze’s compound, sparking outrage and suspicion.
It was gathered that Obieze was caught while attempting to flee the country on a motorcycle through a land border.
During questioning by an immigration officer, he claimed the accusations against him were politically motivated and orchestrated by members of his village who are opposed to him becoming the next king.
He said that if someone is truly innocent, they have nothing to fear because the God of vengeance will eventually expose the truth and fight on their behalf.
Obieze said, “It’s a political issue, it’s something politics. Fabrication against me because I will be next of king and some people in my village don’t want me to be that next of king. So, they are painting ev!l against me, front and back, so that I can fall.”
Despite multiple videos circulating online showing him performing traditional rites, Obieze denied being a native doctor, stating instead that he is a businessman who sells second-hand clothes (okrika).
He further alleged that the President General of his village planted incriminating evidence in his home to frame him, adding that “Because of this kingship issue, they set me up. Someone that is working for them planted de@d body in my soak away.”
Obieze expressed confidence that the truth would come out, saying that an innocent person has nothing to fear because, in his words, “the God of vengeance will fight for me.”
